WHY GET VACCINATED?
#1) Influenza is serious and highly contagious.
You get a fever, severe body aches and feel completely exhausted. In some people, the Influenza virus can lead to more serious complications including pneumonia, heart attack, and stroke.
Even though you may only have the “10-day” uncomplicated Influenza Virus infection, you can easily spread it to someone even more sensitive like a small child or elderly person who has a higher risk of severe illness and possibly death.
#2) Our Kids
Influenza causes thousands of children to be hospitalized yearly. Influenza puts young children at risk for hospitalization due to pneumonia, respiratory conditions, heart failure, and myocarditis. It is estimated that about 10-thousand children are hospitalized each year due to influenza infection.
#3) The influenza vaccine helps prevent heart attack and stroke
In a study conducted in persons age 65 and older during two influenza seasons, influenza vaccination was shown to significantly reduce hospitalizations and deaths due to influenza, pneumonia, heart attack and stroke.
