Reducing Blood Pressure in the Central Florida community by increasing BP awareness and cardiovascular risk awareness.
Know your numbers. The message is simple but life-saving. Someone with a BP of 175/105 is eight times as likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease as someone with a a BP of 115/75. With cardiovascular disease being the leading cause of death in the United States among men and women, spreading the message is critical.
Known as the "silent killer", high blood pressure typically has no symptoms. Central Floridians of all ages need to be aware of the dangers of high blood pressure and the importance of regular checks and doing whatever it takes to keep their numbers at or below normal limits.
"Project Pressure" aims to lower overall blood pressure and increase awareness thru a systematic and sustained educational campaign utilizing media, businesses and municipalities, hospitals, community events and physicians.
