CDC Shot Recommendations

Get Healthy Florida would like to thank everyone involved for making the 2007 Free Flu Shot program a success. Thanks to our wonderful partners: Florida Hospital Centra Care, Lake County Health Departments, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and Z88.3-FM.

When is flu season?

Studies have shown that influenza peak activity ranges from December through April. Generally, the CDC recommends that high-risk people be immunized first, starting in October and November with others following November through December.

What are the risks of influenza vaccination?

Serious problems from influenza vaccine are rare; however, as with any medicine, serious problems, such as severe allergic reactions, may occur.

If you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to eggs, you should not get the flu shot.
